Macclesfield Land Use Plan
The Town of Macclesfield has developed its first Land Use Plan with input from town residents. The Land Use Plan will guide future development, services and infrastructure priorities for the next 5 to 10 years. The plan will address land use and development design, economic development, housing, parks and recreation, infrastructure and other key topics.
What is a Land Use Plan?
Land use planning ins an important tool for planning jurisdictions to guide future development for residential, commercial, industrial, and public activities. It is an expression of the community’s vision for the future with a strategic map to help achieve the vision. It sets forth a vision and goals for Macclesfield’s future and provides the overall foundation for land use regulation. The State of North Carolina G.S. Ch 160D requires for a reasonably maintained land use plan for jurisdictions who want to enforce zoning regulations.
This process is designed to help communities identify issues before they arise and stay ahead of trends in land use development and redevelopment and anticipate and navigate community trends and land use patterns.
